Argentina is the second largest country in South America.

The country is a federation of 23 provinces and the autonomous city of Buenos Aires, its capital and largest city. It is the eighth-largest country in the world by land area and the largest among Spanish-speaking nations by geographical area of 2,780,400 km2 and is the fourth by population, with over 41 million people.

Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina, and the second-largest metropolitan area in South America, after Greater São Paulo. People from Buenos Aires are referred to as porteños (people of the port). Buenos Aires is a top tourist destination, and is known for its European style architecture and rich cultural life, with the highest concentration of theatres in the world.


Wrestling in Argentinia


In Spanish wrestling is called: Lucha Olimpica. The name of the Argentinian Wrestling Federation is: FALA Federacion Argentina de Luchas Asociadas, and has its headquarters in the capital, Buenos Aires, where it was on 20 Established in March, 1928. It is thus one of the oldest wrestling associations in South America.

The big successes are missing for the Argentine wrestlers yet. At the Olympic Games or World Championships medal they could not reach. The most successful wrestler is Patricia Bermudez. She was the only Olympian in wrestling in London in 2012 and is the first title holder at the panamericans for Argentina. She already won several international tournaments including the 2012 Grand Prix of Germany in the 48 kg category.
America at the Pan American Games 2011 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The “Gauchos” reached the four third places by Patricia Bermudez (48kg), Luz Clara Vascez (63kg), Fernando Iglesias (60 kg freestyle) and Yuri Maier (96Kg Greco). Yuri Maier was (after the Colombian Fredy Serrano), the second South American who went to the mat in the German Bundesliga. He started in 2010 for the RSV Frankfurt / Oder, and for 2013 he signed a contract for KAV Mansfelder Land. Augustin Destribats from  Cordoba is one of the biggest talents (4. Youth Olympic Games 2014) in freestyle.


National Situation


The national Olympic trainingcenter is called CeNARD (Centro Nacional de Alto Rendimientro Deportivo) and is based in Buenos Aires. Headcoch of the nationalteam is the cuban coaches legend Erik Leon. Also nationalcoaches are Ramiro Maggiolo (of the Boca Juniors), Javier "Pana" Broschini and the Colombian Wilson Medina Nazaret. In addition to the national championships the "Juegos Evita" have (named after the still loved former President Eva Peron) a high priority. In national tournaments are not only divided in weight classes,  categorys between Novicios (beginners) and the Primeros (Advanced).
