Valle del Cauca

Valle del Cauca is a department of Colombia. It is in the western side of the country, facing the Pacific Ocean, and it is considered one of the most important departments in the Republic of Colombia. Its capital is Santiago de Cali. Given its privileged location, lately it has been considered as the Pacific Door of Colombia. Besides Cali such cities as Buenaventura, Cartago and Tulua have great economical, political, social and cultural influence on the department's life. Valle del Cauca has the largest number of independent towns (i.e. not in Metropolitan areas) with over 100,000 inhabitants in the country, counting six within its borders. Buenaventura has the largest and busiest seaport in Colombia, moving about 8,500,000 tons of merchandise.

Wrestling at Valle del Cauca

In Cali, the national Wrestling Federation "Federacion Colombiana de lucha Olimpica" was founded in 1967. The first president Jaime Zapata specifically promoted wrestling in the "Valle". In the neighboring cities of Cali such as Buga and Palmira are everywhere wrestling clubs. Until 2005 the Office of the National Wrestling Association was always Cali.

The Sports Federation of the Valley, INDERVALLE (Instituto de Deportes del Valle) has three full-time coaches. These are Capacho Victor and Jose Restreppo from Cali and Carlos Daza from Buga.

The coach of Buga Carlos Alberto Daza, was elected as president of the Liga de Lucha Vallecaucana for the period 2014-2019.
In the election of the new board of the Liga de lucha Vallecucana (Provincial Wrestling Asosition), was fulfilled, also were: Luis Fernando Izquierdo Martínez (Buga), José Manuel Restrepo (Cali), Carlos Alberto Murillo (Palmira) and Francisco Gomez (Cali).
